Vrtanes Papazyan was an Armenian writer, historian, literary critic, and translator whose works vividly depict the life of Western Armenians, the hardships they endured, and their national liberation struggle. Through his stories, novels, and publicistic writings, he captured both the suffering and resilience of the Armenian people, while his dramas conveyed liberal ideals. Papazyan made a significant contribution to Armenian literary studies by producing the first comprehensive history of Armenian literature.
