Alexander Movsisyan, better known by his literary pseudonym Shirvanzade, was a prominent Armenian playwright and prose writer. One of his well-known short stories, “The Artist,” beautifully portrays the depth of Levon’s soul and his artistic temperament. Although, upon reading the work, we may say that it cannot be regarded merely as a story about a creative individual; it is a story of talent and youth that fall victim to the hardships of life, its unpredictability, and fate.
