During the war years, the peaceful daily life of the Ararat Plain is disrupted by news from distant fronts. The narrator, returning to his homeland, and Sedrak travel from the northern seas to devastated settlements, where silence preserves the traces of human loss. Sedrak’s encounter with the city of his childhood speaks of memory, longing for loved ones, and the wounds left by war. Vivid images of nature stand in contrast to empty houses and deserted streets.
