The events unfold in Eastern Armenia at the beginning of the nineteenth century, in Kanaker, Yerevan, and the gorges of the Hrazdan, amid Persian rule and the turmoil of war. Through Aghasi’s fate, the life of an Armenian village emerges with its customs, faith, and longing for freedom. His story is intertwined with Nazlu’s self-sacrificing love, the sorrow of a family, and the memory of the homeland. Personal tragedy becomes an expression of a people’s historical pain and dignity.
