The story is set in an Armenian urban community at the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century, against a background of club life and religious customs. For the solitary Sarkis Badagyan, the club has become a home, a family, and the only world he knows. His daily presence among other people only deepens his isolation. The work reflects on habit, loneliness, and the quiet tragedy of a life narrowed to one familiar place.
