“Kaytser” (“Sparks”) is one of Raffi’s finest works, on which the author worked for nearly his entire creative life — from the early 1860s until 1887. Raffi revised “Sparks” several times and returned to it repeatedly. The main characters of the novel are romantic ideological types, and the central issue of the novel is the ideology expressed by these characters; therefore, in its overall direction, the novel becomes romantic in nature.
