New e-book: How the Redoubt was taken, Prosper Merimee

The novella takes place in 1812, during Napoleon's Russian campaign. The story is narrated by a lieutenant of the French army, who later died of fever in Greece. Having just graduated from officers' school, the lieutenant arrives at the troops on the eve of the Battle of Borodino. At the head of a company, he takes part in the assault on the Shevardino Redoubt and, having survived the bloody battle, assumes command of the entire detachment as the only remaining officer.
