The title of the book, Hêkê dûkê, comes from the name of a children's game. The author, Ziné Mamoyan, is of Yazidi origin and resides in Paris. This is her first book written in Armenian. Art critic Vardan Jaloyan, in his speech included in the book, states:

"Ziné is a native bearer of the Kurdish oral tradition, yet she tells her story in a 'very beautiful and kind' Armenian, sometimes playfully satirizing it through Yazidi stylization. The presence of French is also noticeable in the novel. These three cultures blend together, giving the novel a dialogic and carnivalesque character."
