In the early 1920s, at a former princely estate near Moscow, now a museum, past and present meet before the visitors’ eyes. The elderly servant Iona continues to preserve the memory of the palace and his loyalty to the old order, while people of the new era interpret its halls and portraits differently. Within the estate’s walls, conflicting views collide over history, ownership, human dignity, and the sense of loss left in the wake of the revolution.
